Mary A. Lemmen, 82, of Oconto Falls, died early Thursday morning, Oct. 12, 2017, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on Oct. 18, 1934, in Oconto to Joseph and Germaine (Heroux) Alberts.

As a little girl, Mary moved with her family to Green Bay where she attended school, graduating from Green Bay East High School with the Class of 1952.

On Aug. 11, 1956 she married Richard “Dick” Lemmen at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Green Bay. Following their marriage the couple lived in the Pulaski area where they farmed. In 1967, they moved to rural Oconto Falls where Mary helped in the family cattle business, became very active in local and county government, and was an active member in local Catholic parishes. She first served for 27 years as a youth teacher at Sacred Heart in Spruce and later stayed active in the PCCW as a member of St. Anthony. Mary served for 30 years as the town of Oconto Falls treasurer, 24 years on the Oconto County Board of Supervisors as well as serving for over 20 years as a supervisor for the Oconto County Fair and as secretary/treasurer for the Frontier Farmers group. As busy and dedicated as she was with these various committees, she managed to give over 17,000 volunteer hours to the local hospital auxiliary.

Mary will be fondly remembered for her community service, pleasant personality and willingness to always give her best.

Survivors are her husband of 61 years, Dick Lemmen; very good and dear friends, Bob and Laurie Maloney, Mike and Jodi Pennings and their families; her five siblings, Judy (Ed) Sasnowski, John (fiancé Pat Wiktorek) Alberts, Gerrie (Ken) Tenor, Jan (Larry) Balza and Jane (Denny) Tenor; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bonita Alberts, Robert and Bernard “Bud” (Jean) Lemmen, Henrietta Schaetz, Bernice Hermsen, Bernadette (Gene) Egnarski and Helen Lemmen; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The Lemmen family would like to thank Dr. Michael Volk and Holly as well as Unity Hospice, especially Crystal and Cheryl, for the care and concern shown Mary during their time together.
