Fred W. Edwards, 81, of Suring, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018. Fred was born on March 15, 1937, to the late Claude and Stella (Dortch) Edwards in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati and then moved to Florida to work for NASA on the Saturn rocket project. Fred married Donna McCartney on May 6, 1961, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Fred and Donna moved around the country while Fred worked on various government projects. He later retired after working at Procter & Gamble.
Fred was very involved with and proud of his work. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially spending time at Yosemite National Park. He was a 60-year member of the Masonic Lodge, joining numerous lodges across the country during his travel, and was also a member of the Eastern Star. Fred was currently a member of The Mason Wood Lodge in Cecil (Masonic Lodge 170).
Fred is survived by his wife, Donna; three children, Robin Lane (Steve Strehlow) of Suring, Christopher (Michelle) Edwards of Gillett, and Jennifer Edwards of Green Bay; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Maria (Edwards) Gomber; son-in-law, Rick Lane; two sisters, Teddie Koerkel and Lola Wehring.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018, at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring from 1 p.m. until the Masonic Service at 3 p.m. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be expressed at www.gruetzmacherfuneralhome.com.
