Brent T. Aderholdt

Brent T. Aderholdt, 31, of Gillett, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018. Brent was born on July 12, 1987, to Tammie Szalewski and Steve Aderholdt. He graduated from Pulaski High School with the Class of 2006. Brent worked numerous other jobs before working at Northeast Asphalt for the past five years. He was a proud member of the Operating Engineers Local 139 Union. On Jan. 23, 2016, Brent married Jessica Van Gheem in Krakow. A little over a year later, Brent and Jessica renewed their vows on June 10, 2017. Brent enjoyed his work, ice fishing, hunting, spending time outdoors, and spending time with his family and friends. He was very proud of his 1949 John Deere B Tractor. Brent’s children were the pride of his life and he loved every moment he had with his children.
Brent is survived by his wife, Jessica, and their two kids, Bowen and unborn daughter, McKenna; his daughter, Madysen; his parents, Tammie (Ric) Szalewski and Steve Aderholdt; brother, Clayton Aderholdt; stepbrother and sister, Alec Szalewski and Hailey Szalewski; maternal grandmother, Marie Wolf; paternal grandparents, Clifford and Karen Aderholdt; father and mother-in-law, Howard and Nancy Van Gheem; sisters-in-law, Jamie (Travis) Athey and Mindy (Michael) Athey; godparents, Amy Wolf and Russell Wolf; and special friend, Larry (Virginia) Zimmerman. He is further survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Paul Wolf; uncle, Charlie Aderholdt; great-grandparents.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring, 116 S. Krueger St., from 4-8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, July 27, 2018, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Breed, 13346 County Road AA, from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at noon with Pastor Paul Scheunemann officiating. Brent will be interred in Breed Union Cemetery next to his grandfather, Paul, at a later date. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements. James H. Robenhorst

James Herbert Robenhorst, 66, of Suring, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 18, 2018. James was born June 21, 1952, to Jean (Kebschull) and the late Herbert Robenhorst. He grew up in the Suring area and attended Suring High School. Jim worked for US Cable, Steve Brickner and the Town of Breed, where he stayed for over 15 years doing various jobs until he was unable to for health reasons. His dedication and pride of work did not stop there. Jim also enjoyed riding horses and watching the joy that it brought his two girls. He then went on to open the North Branch Riding Stables. Jim was an active outdoorsman, whether it be hunting, ice fishing, riding four wheeler, attending fisheries or just cutting grass. He always surrounded himself with lots of family and friends and really enjoyed being involved in and serving his community. James would often be seen at church on Sundays with his mother, Jean, as well as at parades where he liked to donate a bike to one lucky boy or girl. Jim had lots of personality and loved to tell jokes, always trying to make you smile. Most of all, he was a great father and did whatever he could to make sure his two girls were happy.

James is survived by his mother, Jean Robenhorst; two daughters, Crystal Robenhorst (Matt) and her children, Trent and Rylie, and Heather Winters (Brett) and her children, Cole and unborn son due in October; two brothers, Richard (Jane) Robenhorst and Ray (Phyllis) Robenhorst; three nephews, Ray Jr., Neil and Chad Robenhorst. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Herbert; sister-in-law, Pat Robenhorst; infant siblings, Jeffrey and Thomas Robenhorst.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Breed from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Paul Scheunemann officiating. Brian J. Arneson

Brian J. Arneson, 60, Oconto Falls, died peacefully on Saturday, July 21, 2018. He was born Aug. 21, 1957, to John and Elaine (Deering) Arneson. Brian lived and grew up in the Gillett area and in his younger years, he was a farmer and truck driver. He enjoyed hunting, trucking, and riding his motorcycle and later in life, worked on the family farm, cut wood and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Survivors are his mother, Elaine (Deering) Arneson, Oconto Falls; one daughter, Terri (Matt) Golie, Shawano; two grandchildren, Josiah and Quinn Golie; one brother, Brad (Lynn) Arneson, Oconto Falls; one niece, Brooke Arneson, Cecil; two nephews, Seth (Shawna) Arneson, Cecil, and Jack Arneson, Oconto Falls; one great-niece, Scarlett Arneson.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Arneson.

Private family burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls, with Pastor Bill Gruenstern officiating. Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls is serving the Arneson family.

The Arneson family would like to give a special thanks to Julie Blohm, his homecare nurse, the entire medical staffs of St. Clare Hospital in Oconto Falls and St. Mary’s Burn Unit in Milwaukee as well as Woodlands of Gillett Nursing Care Center for taking amazing care of Brian while he was in each of their care.

Brian had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. He always accepted you for you and would always give you the shirt off his back. Brian is greatly loved and will be missed by many.

Alfred F. Runge Jr.

Alfred F. Runge Jr., 84, of Gillett, passed away at his son’s home on Sunday, July 22, 2018, with family by his side. Alfred was born on Feb. 8, 1934, to the late Alfred Sr. and Alma (Patzer) Runge. He attended school until the eighth grade, when he left school to help around the family farm. At the age of 14, he got a driver’s license and drove milk truck. Alfred served his country in the U.S. Army. On Dec. 28, 1964, Alfred married Alice Kmecheck. Alfred worked as a General Motors mechanic at several local dealerships and eventually became an avid beekeeper for 17 years. Alfred greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was very proud of his Advanced Class Radio License that he received in May 1981, which allowed him to communicate with people from all over the world. Alfred was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hintz for many years.

Alfred is survived by his wife, Alice; son, Martin (Kathy) Runge; three grandchildren, Luke (Madison) Runge, Mark (special friend Erin Fisher) Runge and Linzy Runge; great-grandchild, Wesson; two brothers, David Runge and Paul (Rose) Runge. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Franklin, Richard, Fredrick, Hope and Marcus.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, at Christ Lutheran Church in Hintz from 4 p.m. until the funeral service at 6 p.m. with Pastor Michael Paholke officiating. Alfred will be interred in Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery at a later date. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements. Viola E. Fedler

Viola Emily Fedler, Gillett, 103, passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018, just shy of her 104th birthday. Her family was at her side.

Viola was born in the Town of Maple Valley on July 29, 1914, a daughter of the late Leo and Olga (Fischer) Neuman. She attended area schools and married Raymond G. Fedler on Sept. 29, 1934. Together they raised two sons and farmed for more than 30 years in the Town of Gillett. She also worked for a time at Mirro Aluminum.

Viola was a longtime, faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Gillett. She loved gardening and canning and always took good care of those who needed help. Viola was also involved with the Valley Line Homemakers. She will be sadly missed.

Viola is survived by her sons: Len (Sue) Fedler of Gillett and Ron (Jan) Fedler of Dodgeville. She also leaves her grandchildren: Roger (Lisa) Fedler, Rick Fedler, Chad (Suzanne) Fedler, Lindsay (John) Campbell, Bailey Fedler and Lily Fedler; her step-grandchildren Lisa (Wes) Mallo and Lori (Dave) Klingenberg; great-grandchildren Deseray, Cheyenne and Sean; and her step-great-grandchildren Amber and Cal, Lauren and Andrew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Raymond, her brothers Hugo (Elsie) and Rudy (Martha) Neuman, her sister Leone Belke, and her grandson, Rusty Fedler.

The family sends special thanks to the staff of Unity Hospice and Serenity Gardens of Gillett for their care of Viola.

Friends and relatives may call on the family from 9 to 10:45 a.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018 at FAITH UNITED LUTHERAN CHURCH, 11465 Old U, Gillett, WI 54124. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Laatsch officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Oconto Falls.

Ronald R. Anderson, 74, Pittsville, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at Hilltop on Pepper, Wisconsin Rapids.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at United Church of Christ, Pittsville, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 9 a.m. on Tuesday until service time. Rev. Wanda Veldman will officiate. Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home, Pittsville, is assisting with arrangements.
Ronald was born on Nov. 25, 1943, in Madison, the son of Arvid and Helen (Horn) Anderson. After Arvid’s death, Oliver Bogsted became Ron’s stepfather. He was a 1961 graduate of Suring High School. He also was a graduate of Marquette University, Milwaukee, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech/Broadcast Journalism.
Ron enjoyed a 45-year career in multimedia including radio, television, and information technology. He was skilled in writing, public speaking, teaching, videography, photography, and editing.
In the 1960s, he was employed as a disc jockey and reporter for radio stations in Two Rivers, Madison, Elgin, and Rockford. This was followed by work in television for Milwaukee stations WISN Channel 12 and WMVS Channel 10 Public Television. Ron was Director of Public Affairs and Editorial Director at Channel 12 for 11 years. He was affiliated with Channel 10 for 20 years as an employee or freelance producer/editor including seven seasons for Outdoor Wisconsin. He later worked in video production, web-based training resources and communication for the Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Public Instruction.
Ron served in the Army National Guard for four years and the army Reserve for two years. He was trained as a medical corpsman.
He married Frances McGinley on Sept. 4, 1987. They resided in Glendale, Manitowoc, Deerfield, and Portage prior to moving to Pittsville.
Ron is survived by his wife, Fran, and sisters Diane (Tom) Rabe of Shawano, Linda (Jim) Rupiper of Suring and Renee (Douglas) LaViolette of Green Bay. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, John Riccio, of Medford, Ore., Jennifer (Chase) Mulhall, of De Pere, Kim (Isaiah) Mosteller of Asheville, N.C., Amy (Kevin) Gordon of Lakeville, Minn., Tina McGinley (Rodney Tubbs) of Wisconsin Rapids, Tammy (Jeff) Barstow of Port Edwards, Mike (Lynette) McGinley of Lakeville, Minn., Brian (Manyi) McGinley of Appleton, Paul (Jenny) McGinley of Sussex, Nathan (Jenny) Bowden of Pittsville, Ryan Bowden of LaCrosse and Dustin McGinley of Wisconsin Rapids and many great-nieces and -nephews. He is further survived by sisters-in-law, Kathy (Vic) Bowden of Pittsville and Janice McGinley of Lakeville, Minn., and brothers-in-law, Richard (Barbara) McGinley of Wisconsin Rapids, Robert (Lucy) McGinley of Nekoosa and Patrick (Jody) McGinley of Nekoosa.

Glen V. Jensen

Glen V. Jensen, 87, peacefully passed away in his sleep July 25, 2018, at his Machickanee cottage as his vigilant daughter Wendy heard his last breath. He now joins his parents, many siblings and ancestors in the everlasting beyond. His father, Arthur “Dane” O. Jensen, assisted his wife, Margaret L. (Ulrich) Jensen, at their home farm in his birth on March 10, 1931, at Town of Mayville, Dorchester, Wisconsin. He was one of 15 children.

Living siblings: Bruce Jensen, Vera Thorson, Audrey Cypher, Gene Jensen, Sandy Jensen and Dean Jensen.

Deceased siblings: Valgene, Lydia, Marvin, Beaulah Fischer, Charlene Hundrieser, Donna Goesl, Verna Meyer and Marilyn Meyer.

A graveside memorial with Glen’s cremated remains was held at Pine Hill Cemetery, Pine Road, Curtiss, Clark County, on July 29, 2018, at 3 p.m. At the funeral, Military Honors respected his four years of U.S. Navy foreign sea duty (January 1950 to December 1953). He served as the volunteer historian and reunion organizer for the USS Sarasota Association.

Glen was a graduate of Dorchester (Wisconsin) High School and earned a Business Management Certification at Carroll College. He worked 37 years at Broan Manufacturing, Hartford, where he rose from spot welder to welding foreman to design engineer to customer service and, finally, tech support. He retired in 1993 with his wife, Mary Beth (Noonan) Jensen, BFA, MS, whom he married 45 years ago, July 21, 1973. Mary Beth, a retired school principal, was born in Oconto. She is the daughter of deceased parents Robert Herald Noonan (born Oconto 1912) and Mary Melvina Werts (born Russell, Lucas County, Iowa, 1911), both having met while teaching at Oconto High School in 1939.

Glen had four children with his previous wife until 1969, Norene M. (Lueth) Jensen: Tami M. Ritt of Huson, Montana (Phillips, three children, then Ritt, one child); Michael G. Jensen of Greenfield (Patti, 13 children, then Judy, no children); Wendy R. Jensen of Mauston (Vasil, one child, then Dodd, two children); and Eric A. Jensen of Henrietta, Oklahoma (Jenny, no children). In all, 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mary Beth and Glen had no children together. She helped to raise his younger three children from ages 6, 10 and 13.

Glen was a life member of the VFW, affiliating with the Hartford, then Colby, posts. He loved sailing the Mediterranean and foreign naval ports as Radioman 2nd Class Petty Officer, USN.

His interests in later life included: hunting, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, pontooning, playing Nickel Down, computer work, photography, traveling and many home-improvement projects (particularly decks overlooking the Machickanee Flowage).

Special thanks and blessings go to the staff at the VA, Prevea, Unity Hospice, neighbors Jeff & Barb Schullo, Lydia & Nelson Martinez, and daughters Tami and Wendy for all of their love, assistance and support in Glen’s remaining days here on earth.

Rather than gifts and flowers to the family, his wife suggests “paying it forward” to someone in need, particularly the veterans, the homeless…and those lost and forgotten.

Marvin R. Rusch

Marvin R. Rusch, 78, of Stiles, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 29, 2018, after a courageous battle with a variety of ailments.
He was born on May 10, 1940, in Milwaukee to Walter and Olga (Patzer) Rusch. Marvin attended Immanuel Lutheran School and was confirmed in 1954. He attended Milwaukee Lutheran High and Custer High, graduating in 1958.
Marvin proudly served his country in the U.S. Army before starting his steamfitter’s apprenticeship in 1961. He later became a Journeyman and excelled at specialized welding.
He married Carol Ann (Blake) on Jan. 19, 1963, in Milwaukee. They moved to Stiles in 1969, where together they raised three children, Steven (Suzanne) Rusch, Marcy (Scott) Wolfe and Michael (Rhonda) Rusch. Marvin enjoyed a second marriage on April 23, 1988, to Carol (Heiden) (Burdey). He is survived by her children, Thomas (Trish) Burdey, Monte (Joye) Marek, Steven (Kristin) Burdey and Tammy (Stephen) Loveless. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and his first and second wives.
Marvin retired in 1995. He continued to be an active member in his church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, going to the races, auction$, as well as visiting with his children and grandchildren.
A casual visitation will be held on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, starting at 9 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 1700 Superior Ave., Oconto. A memorial service will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Curtis DeCoste officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Spruce.
The family wishes to thank all of the medical support staff that have assisted in Marvin’s care over the years.

Gloria J. Behling

Gloria J. Behling (Bunn), 65, New Franken, formerly of Oconto Falls, died Sunday morning, Aug. 5, 2018, at Anna’s House in New Franken. She was born Dec. 16, 1952, in Oconto Falls to Leonard Laabs and Florence Peters-Taylor. Gloria attended Oconto Falls Public Schools and graduated high school with the class of 1971. Because her parents owned and operated the Falls Family Restaurant for many years, Gloria grew up in the restaurant and worked there for many years.
In 1971, she married Jerry Bunn, and they had three sons together. Over the years, Gloria was involved in Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Red Hatters, Boy Scouts and Friends of the Library. On Dec. 25, 1991, she married Eugene Behling at Grace Lutheran Church. Together the couple shared 18 years together, taking good care of each other and being able to laugh at the simplest events of everyday life.
Survivors are her three sons, Adam (Jennifer) Bunn, De Pere; Josh Bunn, Green Bay; Zachary (Tonya) Bunn, Green Bay; three daughters, Karen Cejka, Dayton, Ohio; Kathy (Tom) Kruse, Brookfield; Terry Bishop, Columbus, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Emalee Grace and Nathaniel Bunn, Isaac Bunn, David and Daniel (Johanna) Bauman, Dustin and Shannon Bishop; two great-grandchildren, Kaya Bishop and Malcolm Bauman; one brother, Jerry (Carole) Heling, Newton Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene in 2012, one sister Judy Duffy-Neal and an infant brother.
Visitation will be held 3-6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls. Funeral services will be held 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls.

William L. Bristol Jr., 75, of Suring, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at King Veterans Home in Waupaca. William was born on July 8, 1943, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, to the late William Sr. and Grace (McClurg) Bristol.
Bill was a lifetime member of the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club and a member of Suring United Methodist Church of Suring. Bill loved to fish, camp and ride his motorcycle with his vet friends. He worked at various nuclear plants around the United States.
William is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Alice (Funkhouser); a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Stacy Bristol of Minnesota; two daughters, Sherrie Walker and Kimberley Cuppy, both of Wisconsin; sister, Donna Orlowski of Florida; sister-in-law, Debra James of Pennsylvania; his four-legged companion, Gunny; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Leslie and Grace Bristol; great-grandson, Jeffrey (Peanut) Warren Smith Jr.; sister-in-law, Dolly May Funkhouser.

Leocadia “Katie” M. Metzner, 92, of Oconto Falls, passed away on Saturday morning, Aug. 11, 2018, in a local nursing home. The daughter of the late Stanley and Bernice (Hlopek) Masaslanka was born May 24, 1926, in Bessemer, Michigan. She grew up in the UP. Katie graduated from A.D. Johnson High School, Class of 1944. Following graduation, she went to Elgin, Illinois, and worked at the watch factory for 10 years.

On June 18, 1955, she married Robert “Bob” Metzner in Bessemer. They lived in Oconto Falls all their married life. She was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Parish, belonged to the Altar Rosary Society, the PCCW, worked for the school lunch program and served funeral lunches for many years. She was a member of the Oconto County Homemakers and the Red Hatters Society. She loved to cook and bake, and her creativity and resourcefulness brought joy to her life and others.

Survivors include her husband, Bob; one daughter, Diane Flanagan, Phoenix; three sisters, Maryann (Al) Sande, Milwaukee, Irene Bonato, Ironwood, Michigan, Margie Tatch, Iron River, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Edward, John, Joseph and Walter, two sisters, Helen Stanack and Clare Gross.

Friends may call at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Oconto Falls, from 10-11:45 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Wednesday at the church, with Father Joel Sember officiating. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Lena. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established to St. Anthony Parish and School.

Wally Faltynski

Wally Faltynski, 74, Oconto Falls, died peacefully Sunday evening, Aug. 12, 2018, at UW Hospital with his family by his side. He was born Sept. 2, 1943, in Green Bay to Joseph “Zip” and Dorothy (Weber) Faltynski. Wally grew up in Green Bay, where he attended public schools, graduating from East High School with the class of 1961. Following graduation, he went to work for the city of Green Bay.

On July 9, 1966, he married Corale Bourguignon at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. The couple lived in Green Bay for most of their married lives where Wally proudly served as a garbage man for 40 years, before retiring to Oconto Falls in 2006. He was a member of the Herman’s Club, known for making tasty booyah. Known for his great sense of humor, Wally was also known as Wall Dog, Seagull and Mr. Booyah.

Survivors are his wife of 52 years, Corale Faltynski, Oconto Falls; their three children, Joe (Alice) Faltynski, Jennie (Dennis) Laundrie and Judy (Leo) Johnson, all of Green Bay; seven grandchildren, Jenna and Jacob Faltynski, Brandon and Brianna Laundrie, Tyelor Zenner, Kellen and Darianne Johnson; one sister, Yvonne “Bonnie” (Jim) Delfosse, Green Bay; two sisters-in-law, Verona Faltynski, Green Bay; Sue (Jim) Larsen, Crivitz; two brothers-in-law, Ken Van Lanen, Wild Rose, and Jim (Cathy) Jelinski, Crivitz; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Visitation with the urn present will be held after noon Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls until the time of service. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Charles F. Schultz III

Charles F. Schultz III, 57, of Lakewood, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018. Charles was born on Jan. 31, 1961, to the late Charles Sr. and Virginia (Beronek) Schultz. He graduated from Wabeno High School. Charles was very active in his community. He often worked at the food pantry at St. John Lutheran Church in Townsend. Charles worked at Mountain Painting as Tinker’s right hand man. He also worked at the School House Bar, helping them clean and set up for events. Charles was an avid fisherman and greatly enjoyed shooting pool, playing darts, telling jokes, making people smile and having a good time. He was an all-around handy man and was willing to help anyone. Charles loved all animals and adored his dog, Maggie.

Charles is survived by his girlfriend, Deana (Dee); daughter, Amber Schultz (fiancé Eric Reinhart); three grandchildren, Kelsey, Karson, and Kali; five siblings, Elizabeth (Ed) Giese, Pamela (Ryan) DeKeyser, Christopher (Theresa) Schultz, Katherine Neff, and Ann Sodowsky; and beloved dog, Maggie. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Eugene Schultz and Charles Schultz Jr.; two sisters, Elona Schultz and Charlene Nelson.

A celebration of life will be held for Charles on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018, at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until the memorial service at 11 a.m. with Scott Whycherley officiating. Charles will be interred beside his mother in Forest Home Cemetery in Townsend. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements. Steve Hines, 66, Oconto Falls, died Saturday evening, Aug. 25, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. He was born July 4, 1952, in Garden City, Michigan, to Hilton and Carolyne (Willoughby) Hines. Steve grew up in Plymouth, Michigan, where he graduated high school.
On May 11, 1974, he married Pamela Jahnke in Wausaukee. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Wausaukee, where Steve worked for the telephone company. In 1999, the couple moved to Oconto Falls where Steve was employed for what was now Centurytel and retired after 28 years of service. Steve will be lovingly remembered for his generosity, helpfulness and hard work ethic.
Survivors are his wife, Pam Hines, Oconto Falls; their two sons, Nicholas (Angela) Hines, Rhode Island; Christopher (Michele) Hines, Oconto Falls; four grandchildren who he dearly loved, Kayle and Kaden; Mila and Esme; his father, Hilton Hines, Washington; two sisters, Linda Stone and Becky (Don) Hill, both of Washington; his mother-in-law, Beverley Jahnke, Wausaukee; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dan Jahnke, Marquette, Michigan; David Jahnke, Neenah; Donald (Jennifer) Jahnke, Minnesota; Doug (Christen) Jahnke, Rhode Island; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyne Hines and father-in-law Robert Jahnke.
Visitation will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Oconto Falls after 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2018, until the time of service. Memorial services will be held 5 p.m. Friday.

Ruby Charlotte Jonas was born Oct. 19, 1939, to Charles and Dorothy (née Gleason) Heise in Green Valley. She attended school in Bonduel. On Oct. 19, 1991, she married David Jonas in Waukesha. Ruby loved dogs and especially her schnauzer, Chewy.
Ruby is survived by her husband, David; seven children “from a previous marriage,” James (Karen) Hesprich of Waupun, Kevin (Sue) Hesprich of Seymour, Mark (Jeraldine) Hesprich of Caledonia, Nancy (Kelly) Lanning of Neshkoro, Joe Hesprich of Hartford, Dawn (Eric) Weberg of Jackson, and Nicole Hesprich of Milwaukee; five grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer, Heather, Abigail and Gwendolyn; three sisters, Patricia Heise of Oconto Falls, Mona Juedes of Grafton and Doris (Art) Strebing of Henderson, Nevada; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings.

Rolyn ‘Lee’ Gilligan

Rolyn “Lee” Gilligan, 85, of Suring, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018. Lee was born on July 6, 1933, to the late Bernard “Bun” and Lois (Wood) Gilligan. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from 1952 to 1954. Lee received his GED in the Army and went on to graduate from NWTC as a journeyman machinist. On July 7, 1962, Lee married Audrey Deisinger at St. Michael Catholic Church in Suring. Lee worked at Machine Service Company in Green Bay for over 30 years. Upon retirement, Lee and Audrey moved to Hickory Corners from Green Bay. After retiring, Lee began doing carpentry work for the area. He would make furniture for family and friends and help fix houses. Lee greatly enjoyed woodworking, metalworking, hunting, fishing, camping, traveling the world with Audrey, and spending time with his family.

Lee is survived by his wife of 56 years, Audrey; four children, Kevin (Lisa) Gilligan, Connie (Mike) Streckenbach, Karen (Joe) Gilligan and Terry Gilligan; nine grandchildren, Sean (Marissa) Gilligan, Erin (Evan) Gilligan, Andrew (Jenna) St. Louis, Holly (Scott) Miller, Jessica (R.J.) Liegeois, Cody (Ashley) Gilligan, Nathan Gilligan, Lynelle (Scott) Gilligan and Megan Gilligan; six great-grandchildren, Jessalin, Morgan, Madison, Connor, Colton and Collin; three siblings, Judy Blazek, Dennis Gilligan and Rosanne Ostrenga. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three siblings, Lyle Gilligan, Joan Conrad and Jack Gilligan; granddaughter, Ami Gilligan; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home, 116 S. Krueger St., Suring from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until the procession to St. Michael Catholic Church at 10:45 a.m. The Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Ni Ni officiating. Lee will be interred in Hickory Cemetery with military honors. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements. Margaret M. Schmidt, 85, of Green Bay, formerly of Kelly Lake and Oconto Falls, died Wednesday evening, Aug. 29, 2018, at Tender Hearts Assisted Living in Howard. She was born Oct. 27, 1932, in a log cabin to Maurice and Malvina (Monigal) Closser. Margaret attended Gillett Public Schools, graduating from high school with the class of 1950.

On Sept. 13, 1952, she married Allan “Al” Schmidt at Grace Lutheran Church in Green Bay. The couple lived in Gillett and Kewaunee before moving to Oconto Falls in 1960. Margaret worked in the office of Dr. Clyde Siefert for 30 years until retirement. The couple retired to their home at Kelly Lake in 1999 and just moved to Green Bay in 2014. She had been a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Oconto Falls and was currently a member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Suring.

Survivors are her three children, Deb (Timothy Lofgren) Schmidt, Waupaca, Steven Allan (Lori) Schmidt, La Crosse, Sherry Schmidt, Milwaukee, five grandchildren, Erich Allan (Robin) Schmidt, Joseph (Megan) Schmidt, Elisabeth Schmidt, Hope (Jason) Rajasinghe and Jin Lofgren-Schmidt; two great-grandchildren, Leo John and Catherine Allan;and two sisters, Esther Pyter and Dorothy Sylvester, both of Milwaukee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2014; an infant twin sister, Marguerite; three sisters, Eileen Brazeau, Kathleen Voelker and Madeline Bach; and one brother, Ken Closser.

Visitation will be held after 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church, 11005 County Road M, Suring, until the time of service. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the church with Pastor Bethany Rutten-Kempees officiating. Burial will follow in Wanderers Rest Cemetery, Gillett. Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls is serving the Schmidt family.

The Schmidt family would like to thank Tender Hearts, Rachel and Chris Goffard, Danielle, and Sergeant Nicki and Heartland Hospice, especially Jen, Janna and Chaplain John for their care.

Myrtle M. Van Laarhoven, 98, Oconto Falls, died Tuesday evening, Sept. 4, 2018, at Atrium Post Acute Care in Oconto Falls with family present. She was born Oct. 17, 1919, in North Dakota to George and Mable (Runk) Keith.

On Sept. 21, 1939, she married Adrian Van Laarhoven in Coleman. Myrtle lived in rural Lena for most of her life and was once employed at Frigo Cheese. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Lena. Myrtle will be fondly remembered as a fabulous cook who loved to prepare meals for her family.

Survivors are her four children, Linda Urbaniak, Peshtigo; Dean (Judy) Van Laarhoven, Greenville; Ann (Terry) Hegeman, Suamico; Don (Grace) Van Laarhoven, Lena; two daughters-in-law, Donna Van Laarhoven, Billings, Montana; Mary Martin, Marion; 18 grandchildren, many great- and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Adrian in 1991, two sons, Dennis and David, one daughter Mary Van Laarhoven, two brothers, Hank and George Keith and three sisters, Iletta Heckendorf, Dorothy Yarwood and Vi McDougal and son-in-law, Allen Urbaniak.

Visitation was held 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls. Visitation continued after 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at St. Anne Catholic Church in Lena until the time of service. Mass of Christian Burial was held 11 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Fr. Felix Abano officiating. Burial followed in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Lena.

The Van Laarhoven family would like to thank Dr. Genadi Maltinski and the wonderful staff at Atrium Post Acute Care for their many years of care and concern shown Myrtle, especially in her final days.
