
Mary Lee (Cox) Olson, 89, of the Town of Green Valley passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2018. Mary was born on Feb. 5, 1928, in Springfield, Missouri, to the late Glen and Edith (Gallagher) Cox. On Feb. 14, 1946, Mary was united in marriage to Lloyd M. Olson in Springfield, Missouri. In May 1947, the couple moved to the Town of Green Valley to farm and raise their family. Lloyd preceded Mary in death on April 14, 1980. Mary was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in the Town of Green Valley, where she directed the choir for 30 years and was active with the church women and the Sunday school. She also worked as the Town Clerk for 24 years.
Mary leaves behind three children, David (Linda) Olson of De Pere, Donald (Ellen Kawleski) Olson of Salem, Oregon, and Joan (Rick) Gruel of Cecil; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, John Cox of Springfield, Missouri; a son-in-law, Jerry Thomson of Green Bay; a sister-in-law, Jean Olsen of Appleton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; a daughter, Linda Thomson; and a brother, John Paul Cox.
A funeral service for Mary was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Bethel Lutheran Church in the Town of Green Valley with the Rev. Bill Gruenstern officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation was at the church Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Swedberg-Zastrow Funeral Home is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
