
Betty A. Rice, 93, Oconto Falls, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 27, 2017, at Atrium Post Acute Care. She was born Sept. 19, 1924, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Charles and Corella (La Fortune) Forncrook. Betty moved to Oconto Falls with her parents as a baby where she grew up, attending public schools and graduated high school with the class of 1942.
On March 9, 1943, she married Merle Rice in San Diego, where he was stationed while serving in the military. Betty lived most of her life in Oconto Falls where she once worked at Helstad Drug store for 17 years. She was a longtime member of the Oconto Falls United Methodist Church. Betty enjoyed reading, doing crafts and playing cards.
Survivors are her two sons, Brad (Mary Beth) Rice, Oconto Falls; Craig (Marilyn) Rice, Appleton; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Faye (Chet) Anderson, Oconto Falls; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Merle in 2003; one son, Dale; two sisters, Marjorie Schuessler and Patricia Truckey; one brother, Eugene “Sonny” Forncrook; and two great-grandsons, Alex and Korbin Rice.
Visitation with the urn present will be held after 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at the Oconto Falls United Methodist Church until the time of service. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with Pastor Dave Henke officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls.
