Lois Peek

Lois Peek, 89, lifelong resident of Lakewood, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018. The last few years of her life were spent in the loving care of her son, James, in Oconto Falls.

Lois was born July 15, 1929, in the Township of Washington, the daughter of Louis and Helen (Heimer) Schmidt. She was united in marriage to Benny Peek on Jan. 22, 1955, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1997. Lois was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lakewood, the Ladies Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star. She proudly served as grand marshal in the Lakewood Mardi Gras parade.

Lois is survived by her daughter, Norma (Kenny) LaPlante, Oneida; sons, James Peek, Oconto Falls, and John (Jana) Peek, Fort Collins, Colorado; four grandchildren, Matt (Becky) LaPlante, Shelly (Chad) Hendricks, Kayla (Joe) Lang and Ben (fiancée Taylor Witmer) Peek; six great-grandchildren, Maddie, Macy and Cale LaPlante and Anna, Kate and Benny Hendricks; and her sister Doris Schmidt, Bonduel.

She was further preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Eugene Schmidt.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church in Lakewood, with Pastor Lee Jennings officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood Forest Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 4-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, and again Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
